Active TV

activeTV was established in 1988 and has built a reputation in live event television, reality series production, high level sports production and event management in both entertainment and sports.

Today the company has production bases in Melbourne and the Gold Coast, Australia, Singapore and is also represented in London.  It's Melbourne based headquarters house the company's post production facilities.

Unusually, activeTV moves seamlessly from entertainment and reality television to sporting events, perhaps because its founder, Michael McKay, started his career at the variety intensive Nine Network before moving onto the sports heavy Seven Network.

activeTV Australia's flagship event is Carols in the Domain which celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2007, which also marked activeTV's 20th year of involvement in the production of the iconic event. activeTV is responsible for all aspects of the event including television, line-up, sponsorship, media management, merchandising and over-all event management.  It is Australia's largest annual Christmas event attracting over 80,000 people and more that 2 million viewers nationally on the Seven Network.  It is also broadcast on Australia Network across Asia.

activeTV also produces the CMAA's Australian Country Music Awards which are broadcast on Network Ten, Southern Cross and the Country Music Channel.

activeTV's Asian and Australian operations combine to produce Asia's biggest single reality series. The Amazing Race Asia for Sony International Pictures Television's AXN. This mega production is about to start its third series and covers over 53,000 kilometres across 4 continents - perhaps best demonstrating activeTV's ability to deliver complex television productions under immense pressure.

activeTV also created and produced Reel Race DocuChallenge, an innovative reality documentary series fo the Discovery Channel. This involved young asipiring documentary makers from around the world undertaking a range of challenging assignments in different parts of the world and submitting their work to a panel of experts.

activeTV  created a new branded entertainment series for AXN called Ultimate Escape which saw unsuspecting couples airlifted into an exotic action and adventure holiday location. The couples took on a series of adrenalin charged activities mixed with more luxurious and relaxing pursuits. (Available as format.)

Another interesting production the company has undertaken of late is the second series of Short&Sweet, a theatrical based TV series that goes behind the curtain to reveal the trials and tribulations of actors performing a series of 10 minute plays. The series was commissioned by the highly innovative Movie Network, Australia.

On the sports production side, activeTV has one of Australia's most distinguished track records spanning back to its inception in 1988.  Today it distrributes motorsports including the hard racing V8 Spuercars and also puts together the prodcution for the Australian round of the World Superbike Championship series.
