Unsuspecting passengers enter the ‘Cash Cab’ to take a regular taxi ride, and are surprised when they find out that they are contestants on a game show!
The host of Cash Cab Asia is Oli Pettigrew, and offers them money for questions and a taxi ride thrown in.
The Cash Cab will drive them all the way to their destination and ask them general knowledge questions along the way. Questions start from easy to hard, and contestants win money with each correct answer.
An incorrect answer means a strike, and contestants have up to three strikes before they are booted out of the cab, no matter where they are.
Contestants will have two “shout outs” for help, if they are stumped at a question. They can either call someone on a mobile phone (a ‘Mobile Shout-Out) or by asking someone on the street for help (a ‘Street Shout-Out’).
