activeTV was commissioned by Foxtel's Movie Extra channel to produce an original and exclusive 5 part series showcasing the final 10 x ten minute plays featured in the highly successful "Short&Sweet" short play festival.

Each year, Australia's most creative (and brave) playwrites, directors and actors gather to perform 10 minute plays before a panel of judges, for the Short & Sweet Festival.

It is the ultimate challenge that culminates in ten plays reaching the finals.

Filmed at the Melbourne Arts Centre, the Short&Sweet TV series not only showcases the bite-size theatre productions, but also takes you backstage prior to the "five-minute-call" to where the real drama happens behind the curtain.

Whilst producing theatre for television has traditionally been a challenge, the series and its fly on the wall aspects, proved a hit with Movie Extra viewers.
