Producer
Joan started out in the television industry as a stills photographer on Singapore's first reality dating show, ‘Eye For A Guy'. While the contestants fell in love, she fell in love with production. Since then, she has merged her passions for producing and photography in the media industry, especially in the realm of reality programming and photojournalism.
She has conceptualised and produced shows for Media Development Authority, MediaCorp Channel 5, Arts Central and cable channel Super Sports in the genre of reality, variety, documentary and a series of music videos. One of her pet projects, ‘Girls Out Loud', a hybrid reality variety show that takes a unique spin on everyday life, was a nominee for New York Festivals Television Broadcasting Award 2008.
Most recently, she was part of the production team when The Amazing Race Season 16 raced through Singapore.
Growing up in generation 2.0, Joan is an active participant in the realm of social media and alternative forms of broadcast. The first Singapore Day in 2007, an event organised by The Prime Minister's Office, had Joan travelling to New York to cover the event and produce a series of videos for web broadcast after. She was also a member of the start-up team
behind a popular online video network that broadcasts bite-sized shows released
fortnightly.
Combining producing, photography and social media, Joan is in a unique position to push the boundaries of the media industry. And in that light, she hopes to push her travel boundaries and traverse the globe, at the same time sharing it with the world through pictures - moving or otherwise.
