
Vice-President, activeTV Asia
As Vice-President of Production for activeTV Asia, Serena plays an integral role in all of activetv’s local activities, from overseeing all aspects of production to developing new programming specifically for the region.
Serena Lau commenced with activetv as the Regional Producer for the pioneering edition of The Amazing Race Asia. She was the key Co-ordinating Producer for overall logistics and content; manpower planning and country creative; as well as being part of the core team with Executive Producer Michael McKay and Consulting Producer Shauna Kane. The team overaw the entire production of this massive production spanning over 8 countries and 15 cities. Serena was also the key producer behind the episodic finale feature, ‘The Amazing Race Asia – Memories’, which was shot and broadcasted in High Definition.
Serena recently represented activetv Asia as a Producer on the Emmy award winning US version of The Amazing Race and also co-ordinated the Indonesian shoots for a major wildlife adventure series for Discovery Channel, managing the logistics and creative segments for the production in Borneo. She was also Senior Field Producer for Reel Race 2, a reality series on young documentary makers for Discovery and activetv.
With 12 years of international news and broadcast experience under her belt, Serena, who started out her career with Bulletin International, has produced top breaking news events, current affairs segments and corporate news programs for major cable and networks like CNN, CNBC, BBC, Bloomberg and Sky News. Since then, she has moved on to producing TV programs and documentaries. Serena has also conceptualized and overseen the production of several documentaries for Discovery Channel, and the National Geographic Channel,
Credits also include Discovery Channel’s – ‘Pirates in the South China Sea’, ‘Sync or Swim’, and ‘Reel Race’, National Geographic Channel’s – ‘The Human Edge’, The Travel Channel’s – ‘World’s Top Ten Beaches & Resorts’, CBS’ – ’60 minutes’.
